The Bickley Valley comprises of a variety boutique wineries, and a cider house, some within walking distance from our cottage.
Vistas of vineyards and orchards in the valleys make it a delight to explore and heading out to the wineries makes for a lovely day out.
Why not walk on over for some wine and a bite to eat at Brookside Vineyard or Plume Estate, who have the most spectacular views, or pop up to Hainault Vineyard and Cafe or Fairbrossen Estate Vineyard & Cafe. We are not short of choice with other wineries including; Aldersyde EstateAshley EstateCosham WinesCarldenn Homestead WinesDue Jolly Winery and Myattsfield Vineyards.
And if ciders more to your taste there is also the Core Cider House.

Bush Walking

Numerous walking trails are nearby and offer the chance to see a wide variety of wildflowers (during spring), birds and native animals. The nearly 1000km long Bibbulmun Track begins in Albany and ends in Kalamunda.

Lesmurdie Falls offers the visitor stunning views over the Swan Coastal Plain from lookout platforms which are a short walk from the picnic and parking areas on Falls Road. 
The area is especially popular in Springtime when the falls are flowing and a dazzling array of wildflowers are on display.  If you are feeling energetic, stretch your legs on several walk trails of varying degrees of difficulty and length (30mins–2 hrs).

ZigZag Art Gallery

 Located in the Zig Zag Cultural Centre, the Zig Zag Gallery is the perfect showcase for local and regional cultural activities through its ever-changing exhibition programme. 
 Artworks from emerging and professional artists feature. The programme has included artists Helen Norton, Dan Sheridan and Joel Smoker and represents all genres from print and multi-media through to photography and sculpture.

Kakamunda History Village

Kalamunda History Village is the largest folk museum in WA, depicting the early years of life in the Perth Hills and the industries that developed in the area.
Stand in the old Upper Darling Range Railway Station built in the 1890s and imagine the trains transporting timber on the Zig Zag line from Canning Mills to the main line at Midland Junction.  Then turn back the clock as you enter the School House, queue in the Post Office, grade fruit in the Orchard Shed and even visit the Dunny!

Perth Observatory

Western Australia's oldest observatory, located in Bickley. The Perth Observatory has served WA for 118 years and remains actively involved in the service of public education.
Star viewing tours are available on select evenings during the months of November - April. Bookings essential. Contact the observatory for more information.

Splash around at Kalamunda Water Park.  Open from November to March, the Kalamunda Water Park boasts fun for all ages with an Olympic size lane pool, two tube rides slides, children's pools and a toddlers’ play area.  The park also features a kiosk and BBQs for hire.

In season, magnificent displays of wildflowers appear, as well as native banksias, eucalypts, casuarinas, grass trees and ancient cycads.  The forest echoes to the calls and sights of native birds and it is possible to encounter Emu, Kangaroos and Wallabies as the camels carry you quietly through the forest.

Visitors to Kanyana can experience a daytime or nocturnal tour to meet some amazing critters and learn about the Centre’s valuable work.  Booking are essential.
For over 30 years Kanyana has been providing hands-on specialised care and expertise to ensure that sick, injured and orphaned native animals are given a second chance. The 16 hectare property is set in quiet bushland and is surrounded by National Park.
